Have you accepted yourself?
The 1990s
The advertising industry was progressing by leaps and bounds with the advent of television in almost every home.
One ad that came with discipline ld regularity was that of Fair and Lovely.
It apparently offered the solution to a “problem” that young girls face if they are dark skinned. And also the fact that lightening the skin colour is actually a solution to any challenge that dark skinned girl faces.
So we had this girl finding a matrimonial match, a job, and even much needed acceptance provided she used this cream to lighten her skin.
Yes. I grew up in those times. And I am dark skinned. So while I was victorious at debates, winning quizzes, flaunting my spelling bee trophies and also topping every exam, I happened to be a point of discussion…
It’s weird how our societies function. There will always be voices questioning you about something that you are born with.
Colour we all know is genetic. And it in no way impacts what you ultimately achieve in life.
I have heard so many women, a a large number of women come to me with pain of not being accepted or commented about their bodies in some way or the other.
I have designed a unique program that helps women partner with me towards their journey of self acceptance.
Because it’s not about them. It’s about us.
And if I accept myself it never matters who doesn’t.
I chose to keep that power with me.
The picture below is me in all my glory.
The thrones don’t matter.
The Queen definitely does!!
